LEAVE WITH THE ENTIRE DONATION!
JOIN THE GROUP
Each Member registers on the website to commit to donating $100 per meeting, four times a year. That is four consecutive meetings from the date of joining.
You must register as an official member to attend our meetings.
Members must be 18 years or older to attend and you must be a member in good standing and current with your donations or an invited guest to attend. Children under 18 are unable to attend.
Registration & Networking 5:00 - 6:00 pm
Meetings 6:00pm - 7:00pm
If you choose, you can just attend the meeting portion of the evening.
Meetings are diligently conducted in one hour or less.
Each member brings a blank $100 cheque to the meeting. Once the charity has been decided, each member makes the cheque out to the charIty and leaves it with them. Please place your cheque in a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope to get your charitable receipt to you as quickly as possible.
Charities are selected from nominations submitted by members upon joining.
Representatives from the three randomly selected organizations will make a five to ten minute presentation about the organization to the group.
Charities must meet certain eligibility requirements. Charitable organizations under consideration must serve the Edmonton area, be in existence for at least one year, and provide individual tax receipts directly to contributing members. The recipient charity must agree not to give out member information to any third parties, except for Canadian Revenue Agency (CRA) or tax purposes.
NOTE: Tax receipts are provided directly to the members by the recipient charity. Please do not contact Chicks With Cheques for your tax receipt, as it is not ours to give.
Each registered member who is current with her donations may vote (by ballot) for one of the three organizations during her attendance at the quaterly meetings. There is no proxy voting. Ties will be decided by further votes. If a tie persists, the membership will vote to either (1) randomly select one of the tied organizations by draw; or (2) divide the group donation equally between the tied organizations.
Each member will write a cheque for $100 to the organization receiving the most votes. The selected organization will receive a group donation of the total attendees writing a cheque for $100 (depending on number of members). Members who did not vote for the selected organization agree to make their donation regardless.
Provide a self addressed and stamped envelope. Members will receive a tax receipt directly from the organization after they've donated. Members who are unable to attend a meeting are expected to send regrets to one of the chair and get a cheque to them prior to the meeting or give her cheque to another member to deliver on her behalf, making sure to register in the absent chick upon arriving. This is important as all money is awarded that evening following the vote.
